Job hunting isn’t scary

I’ve spent 10+ years on the other side of the table: a recruiter in startups and corporations, hiring people remotely in all sorts of countries. I know what’s really going on in the head of the person asking the questions. I’ll help you work out where your real strengths lie, how to talk about them, and how to stop freezing up even in the toughest interviews.

The first conversation is just us getting acquainted. We’ll figure out what you need right now and sketch out a plan.

About

I know the market from both sides

Why me

Many people who prep candidates for interviews have never sat on the other side of the table. I have, hundreds of times.

10+ years of full-cycle hiring in IT and business: from startups to corporations, from Central Asia and the CIS to Europe, the US and Latin America. Interviews in English, sometimes five a day.

Keeping my finger on the pulse of the hiring market matters to me. So as a recruiter I regularly take training in hiring, and as a consultant I keep up with the latest material for job seekers.

What that means for you

  • I know what recruiters and hiring managers actually pay attention to, and what doesn’t matter, whatever the internet says
  • I know the difference between “a good candidate on paper” and the person who actually gets the offer

Natalia ran a mock interview and a consultation for me, and it turned out to be the best investment I made in my job search. First she pointed out the weak spots in how I presented my experience and myself, and told me how to fix them. We went through a large number of questions, and she gave an honest, complete assessment of the market, which let me start landing in the right segment and increase my income in the current market. We also went through every job search channel in detail, and Natalia gave recommendations for improving each one. The advice on finding the right people, rather than just applying to postings already flooded with applicants, was especially valuable. I highly recommend her!

I want to thank Natasha for a professional consultation. It was a genuinely useful conversation: a chance to look at my CV through a hiring manager’s eyes. Natasha gave concrete, practical advice on improving it, and we went through it line by line, which helped me make it better. She pointed me to job search channels I didn’t know about, and shared networking tips for good measure. She answered my questions about how to handle myself in an interview and how to explain leaving my last job so that it raises no questions for a new employer. Special thanks for the support, the positive attitude and the warm, human approach — after talking with her I felt confident in my own abilities.

  • After the call I really did come away with several more ideas and a clearer sense of where to fine-tune my search.

Thank you so much for the consultation! I felt I had already tried quite a lot in my case and broadly knew what to do next, so I wasn’t even sure we’d find anything new. But after the call I really did come away with several more ideas and a clearer sense of where to fine-tune my search. We went into detail on where else to look for openings and people, where my effort is best spent, how to use referrals and direct messages, what to change in a DS CV and how best to position it. I especially liked the idea of reviewing technical interviews from transcripts, so I get at least some feedback even when the company itself gives none. On top of that, I left the consultation with a fairly concrete list of next steps: what to fix in my CV, where else to go, whom to write to and how to build my search around the openings that interest me. That is especially useful for me, because the search has been going on for a while and it feels like I’ve already tried everything. Overall the call was very useful and thorough, and now I have a clearer plan for what to do next. And separately, it was simply a real pleasure to talk — everything went easily and comfortably. Thanks also for the file after the consultation; it’s very handy to have everything in one place.

  • Natasha pointed out non-obvious channels and places where I can find openings and cross paths with HR for my role.

Natasha and I had two calls, and both were very useful. We went over the current trends and approaches in job searching: Natasha pointed out non-obvious channels and places where I can find openings and cross paths with HR for my role. On top of that, she sent me a curated list of resources useful for me. I especially want to mention the review of my CV — Natasha gave valuable notes on how to improve it, how to make it more readable and quickly understandable for a recruiter, where to put the emphasis and how to further highlight my strengths. The honest, objective feedback on my English level was valuable for me — Natasha clearly spelled out which positions my current level is fine for, which ones I should improve it for, and exactly what level to aim for. It’s an outside perspective from someone with extensive recruiting experience, who highlights the things that can be completely non-obvious to a candidate. Our communication was as comfortable, friendly and open as it gets. Natasha was flexible in her approach: she sent extra materials after the calls and was always ready to help. I wholeheartedly recommend her!

  • I needed a job urgently, so I turned to you as a last chance. And it worked.

Hi, I wanted to say a big thank you for such a thorough consultation. I first came to you thinking: “Okay, they’ll take a quick look at my CV, tweak a couple of phrases, and that’s it.” In the end the problem turned out to be broader. I needed a job urgently, so I turned to you as a last chance. And it worked. Before, I spent a lot of effort tailoring my CV for every opening and did a poor job of tracking what I had applied to and where. Now everything is clear and orderly. Special thanks for giving me an understanding not only of how to position myself before sending a CV, but also of how to answer the tricky questions about my salary range and why I decided to leave my previous job, without becoming a red flag for a new company. Your strategy helped me improve my LinkedIn profile and use unconventional ways of finding openings. That will let me get past the crowd of candidates and land a better offer. Thanks again, now I know what to do next and how!

How I can help

How it works

First we get acquainted: we message, I send you a short questionnaire, and we talk through what you need and how I can help. Then comes the consultation itself. And once we’ve worked together, you get a memo with everything we discussed, so nothing gets lost.

How I work

It’s a conversation, not an exam

No pressure, no “testing” in a session. I make space where you can talk honestly: what you’re afraid of, where you’re out of your depth, what you don’t understand, or maybe you already hate HR people and have no idea what you did to deserve any of this.

Before we start working together I gather an ultra-detailed “case history”, so you get the most out of the session instead of generic “here’s how it’s done” advice.

FAQ

Questions people ask

I’ve never had an interview in English. Is that a problem?

Not a dealbreaker :) Interviews are stressful on their own, and a language barrier only makes it harder. In a session we’ll go through everything from scratch, no judgement for mistakes, rehearse the questions, and see what vocabulary you’re missing. A clear plan takes the fear away.

I just need one session, not the whole package. Is that okay?

Absolutely. The package isn’t a requirement, it’s just the better deal for people who need more than one session.

Do you only work with IT roles, or others too?

All sorts. The range runs from Junior IT Support to CPO, plus back office, marketing and sales. If you’re not sure your role fits, just message me (opens in a new tab) and we’ll figure it out.

Do you guarantee I’ll get an offer?

No, and it would be dishonest of me to promise that. What I can give you is real preparation and an honest recruiter’s-eye view, which seriously improves your chances.

You work as a recruiter right now. Will you tell my current employer I’m looking?

Our work together is like Las Vegas: what happens in a session stays in the session. If there’s a conflict of interest, I’ll say so upfront, and I won’t be able to take you on.

For the English prep, is the session itself in English or in Russian?

I always go by your situation and what you need. I’m comfortable working in either language.
